This project delivers meaningful benefits across transportation safety, environmental restoration, and aquatic habitat improvement. The new structural plate arch provides a modern, reliable crossing that improves hydraulic capacity and long-term roadway safety.
The extensive waterway enhancements — including engineered streambed materials, fish rocks, large woody material placement, native plantings, and a water quality biofiltration swale — are designed to restore and improve habitat for fish and aquatic species in Messing Creek. The project also upgrades guardrail, signing, pavement markings, and erosion controls, resulting in a safer corridor for the traveling public while demonstrating ODOT’s commitment to balancing infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.
