This “fish barrier” project required tight coordination with various agencies, ensuring the protection of existing fish in the associated creek. First, a temporary fish bypass system was constructed along with extensive site work; the roadway was excavated; the old culverts were removed, and a new precast concrete structure was built; the channel was restored according to fish passage requirements; the roadway was restored to the new configuration along with side roadway barriers.
