SR 142 Bowman Creek Culvert Replacement

Klickitat Bridge

This project replaced a structurally deficient concrete box culvert with a new cast-in-place bridge. The biggest challenge overcome by MJ Hughes on this project was the timeline, with only 60 working days to complete the entire project. The schedule, however, was not the only challenge; other challenges included constructing the bridge with the geometrically complex design issued by the Washington State Department of Transportation, and the management of subsurface water that infiltrated the work site. One final unique feature of this project is the absence of precast or steel girders; for this bridge, the bridge slab is the structural member that makes the span work.
