Project Description
This project replaced the rail bridge on the Union Pacific rail line with a new steel bridge. The work involved removing the existing bridge, cutting and removing portions of the existing concrete abutment backwall to accommodate the new bridge, and installing the new steel bridge. The bridge swap took place in a 6-hour railway closure window. Some of the preparation work and cleanup work was allowed outside of the window under careful coordination with Union Pacific to be off the rails when trains are passing through the work zone. The new 19’ wide x 50’ long steel bridge was pre-assembled in MJ Hughes’ yard and mobilized to the project site.
